Carlsbad, the “Village by the Sea”, is a coastal city 35 miles north of San Diego and 85 miles south of Los Angeles.  A favorite tourist destination, it is currently home to Legoland, The Museum of Making Music, La Costa Resort and Spa, and the Gemological Institute of America. 

Its world-famous Carlsbad Marathon draws participants from all over the globe.  The annual display of ranunculus flowers in all their glory, bloom on the gentle rolling hills behind the landmark windmill on Palomar Airport Road, and is a colorful, breathtaking event.  The biannual Carlsbad Village Street Faire, the largest street fair in the county, draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to view the displays of various artists that include jewelry, artwork, painting, metalwork, glasswork, music, as well as many other vendors,  great food, and confections.

Carlsbad has beautiful stretches of beach and a moderate year round climate.  Three lagoons lend themselves to water sports, like kayaking, jet skiing, and boating.  Bird watchers look to glimpse the many species of birds and water fowl that can be seen by hiking the trails near the lagoon.  Carlsbad has its own airport and is also home to many diverse industries including defense, biotech, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals.  The business park along Palomar Airport Road is home to many of these corporations.

Shopping and services abound all around the city.  Tri-City hospital is to the north of Highway 78 and other medical centers including Scripps and Sharp are nearby.  Westfield Plaza Camino Real Mall in north Carlsbad features well-known chain stores and eateries.    Other higher-end retailers are located at the Carlsbad Premium Outlets and The Forum.  The Village in downtown Carlsbad is great for strolling, shopping boutiques and antique shops, and enjoying a meal at the many gourmet restaurants.

There are a variety of Carlsbad homes for sale in demand because of its great location, weather, award winning schools and the thoughtful, painstaking planning the city has taken for its development.  The northern section of Carlsbad, “Olde Carlsbad”,  just south of Highway 78, is comprised of older neighborhoods  and includes the Village of Carlsbad.   Areas along Coast Highway consist of older homes, remodeled beach bungalows, vacation rentals, condominium complexes, and some newer home developments on the southern end of the corridor.

Newly constructed neighborhoods that are hugely popular among homebuyers include Bressi Ranch, La Costa Greens, and Rancho Carrillo.  Many older neighborhoods stretch south into the La Costa region, including beautiful view homes and condominiums surrounding the La Costa Resort and Spa, where world class golf and tennis tournaments are held.

Carlsbad is known as a golfing hot spot with major golf manufacturers Taylor Made, Cobra, Calloway, and other golf related industries residing here.  Premier status golf courses include the La Costa Resort,  the Aviara Golf Club,  and The Crossings. With beautiful surroundings, year-round temperate climate, and plentiful outdoor activities, Carlsbad offers coastal resort living!
